The wait is over, the Cougar watch is on.
Tonight at 7 p.m. the Prince George Cougars will take to the ice at Veterans Memorial Arena in Portland, Ore., to take on the Portland Winterhawks in Game 3 of the WHL Western Conference final series.
The teams drove through the night Saturday and Sunday morning to get to Portland after the ‘Hawks tied the best-of-seven series 1-1 with their 5-3 victory in Game 2.
Cougar fans are invited to the watch party tonight at CN Centre where they can watch the game on the big screen for a $4 admission fee.
Watch parties are also planned for Wednesday’s Game 4 and Game 5 on Thursday.
Depending on how the next three games shape up, the series could be coming back to Prince George for Game 6 on Monday and, if needed, a seventh and deciding game on Tuesday next week.
Cougars goalie Joshua Ravensbergen, who made 33 saves in Game 1 to shut out the Winterhawks, was announced today as the WHL’s Kal Tire rookie of the week.
The 17-year-old from North Vancouver blocked 33 of 37 shots on the loss to Portland on Saturday.
His playoff record is 8-1 and he sports a .934 save percentage and three shutouts - both league-leading statistics. His 1.89 goals-against average ranks second in the league.
